4th July - The Valkenburgs in Japan!
Shortly after arriving in Tokyo and climbing Mount Fuji, Cath and Alan made their way to Nagano to stay with me for a while before heading down to Kyoto to continue their tour of Japan. School is keeping me really busy these last few weeks and so I was only able to take two afternoons off to spend with them. We still managed to squeeze in an onsen visit, Zenkoji, the snow monkeys, karaoke, purikura, soba noodles and the inevitable trip to Kappazushi for Cath and Alan to try some sushi.
I had to make my final visit to the Kencho on Friday for my official farewell ceremony and presentation, followed by my last JET meeting with the rest of the leavers. I had been asked to make a speech about my time in Japan and hadn't really had much time to think about it beforehand so I just talked really fast about Makoto and how great he has been to me.
After the meeting, Cath and Alan joined us for the leavers party at Liberty and then we all got the last train home because I was working at my school festival all weekend and Mr. & Mrs. V were heading off for Kyoto.
It was GREAT to have some more visitors - some things in Japan really have to be seen to be believed!
